Our neighbourhood is in Medellín, Antioquia, the city of eternal spring, in comuna 8, in the east of the city, where the sun rises, and it’s called 13 de Noviembre. It’s a very sociable, diverse and friendly neighbourhood, with lots of culture and civic participation: you can see young people finding refuge in all kinds of cultural expression, like dance, singing, theatre, sport, graffiti, music and journalism. We like the little square, where there’s a food area and a sports area with the pitch. We also like the metrocable and the cultural groups. We don’t like the bad management of rubbish; work is being done on it so that it gets better. We’d change the size, we’d make them bigger. We’d add escalators and more schools. We’d like there to be better restaurants in the neighbourhood, and a good bakery. We’d like to tell the people who come to see the exhibition that our neighbourhood, despite the hardships, is a neighbourhood full of hope, love and resilience, and united.

The 13 de Noviembre neighbourhood sits high up in comuna 8, linked to the city by Line M of the metrocable. Its young people meet in the little square, on the pitch and in rehearsal rooms: dance, singing, theatre, graffiti, music.
